Kinology has pre-sold Antonio Negret’s (“Transit”) “Overdrive,” the action-packed buddy actioner project produced and spearheared by “Taken” helmer Pierre Morel to most major territories at the AFM where it presented a demo reel.

Toplining one of the hottest actors of his generation, Scott Eastwood (“Suicide Squad”), Freddie Thorp (“The Advocate”) and Ana de Armas (“Knock Knock”), “Overdrive” has been snatched up by leading distribs, including Entertainment Film Distributors (U.K.), Universum (Germany), Belga Films (Benelux), Gulf Films (Middle East), Antena 3/Nostromo (Spain), Monolith (Poland), Wise & Wide (South Korea), Cathay (Singapore), MFI (Thailand/Vietnam), Intercontinental (Hong Kong), Ram (Malaysia).

Kinology is in talks with buyers from CIS, Japan, Italy, Canada and Australia.

“UTA Independent Film Group represents domestic rights.

Morel has been heavily involved in the long-gestated project since he’s handling the artistic direction on top of producing. Kinology’s boss Gregoire Melin said the new script, which is by “Wanted” and “2 Fast 2 Furious” scribes Michael Brandt and Derek Haas, has been entirely revamped with far more action and comedy, and the budget accordingly.

“In the spirit of ‘Point Break’ and ‘Letal Weapon,’ ‘Overdrive’ is the next generation high octane action thriller – a fresher, classier and smarter take on the genre,” said Melin.

Set in Marseille and surrounding French Riviera backdrops, “Overdrive” also stars Ana de Armas, who is in Eli Roth’s Knock Knock” and will topline the upcoming “Arms and the Dudes.”

Eastwood has a packed slate of films coming up, including Oliver Stone’s “Snowden” and David Ayer’s “Suicide Squad” with Margot Robbie and Cara Delevingne.

The 24 million Euro film is produced by US shingle Chris Tuffin’s Sentient.
